Musical Director Vacancy
Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir (BSMVC) is looking to appoint a new Musical Director (male or female) to take over from the current MD who retires at the end of December 2011 after more than 15 years service.
The Choir’s Musical Director - Allen Coles
Allen has been involved with music since the age of nine, when he joined his local church choir. He started playing brass instruments at age eleven and played for fifty years in brass concert bands and in the orchestra pit for musical shows. He was a member of the Barnstaple Male Voice Choir for nine years, and joined this choir in 1996, first singing in the 1st Tenor section, but taking over as musical director just one year later in 1997. Allen is only the third director of the choir. His hobbies include golf and armchair sport, especially cricket.
Allen will be retiring at the end of December 2011 and we are looking to appoint a new Musical Director to take over from him. If you are interested please see more information and get in touch.
Accompanist - Sandra Jepps
Sandra has been our accompanist since January 2008. She accompanies two other choirs and is the organist at the Royal Marine Training Centre in Lympstone. Her day job is teaching in a local primary school. Despite her busy schedule she also has three teenage children to manage! The choir is delighted to have an accompanist with a smiling face, a good sense of humour, and the patience to bash out the notes for those of us who are a bit slow on the uptake!
Sandra obtained her music degree from the University of Huddersfield and her piano teaching diploma from Trinity College of Music. She studied piano with Peter Donohoe and composition with Richard Steinitz.
